Last Thursday saw Round 2 of the Ottawa edition of the Wacken Metal Battle Canada take over the stage at House of TARG. The local bands competing this time included Sovereign Council, Infrared, Messora and Cycle of 12.
It was another entertaining evening of local metal, with more styles thrown into the mix compared with round 1, including thrash, symphonic metal, progressive death metal and hard rock. There was also another good crowd turnout at House of TARG.
As I dig deeper into Ottawa’s various music scenes, I’m continually impressed with the talent on display with each new band I see for the first time. This night was no exception.
Congratulations to Sovereign Council who came out on top and get to join round 1 winners Lycanthro in March for the Quebec Final in Montreal! Good luck to both Ottawa representatives at the regional final.
