I’m glad I was able to make this show. It was the first time seeing Trees live, who I had the chance to sit down and chat with earlier this year. I was also pleasantly surprised by Light Company, a band from Peterborough who was in the midst of a small tour. And while I was only able to catch the last couple songs of Viljo‘s set, they definitely sounded good.
Unfortunately for Trees, they had to modify their set slightly rather than back out of the show after their lead guitarist had suffered a pretty bad accident to his hand. Regardless, I was still impressed with how their material came across live. I definitely look forward to catching them again soon. In the meantime, if you haven’t yet heard them, give their debut album a listen!
I was equally impressed with Light Company. Not only did they have a strong set of songs, but their performance was highly energetic with lot’s of interaction between the band members. Their set was very entertaining from start to finish. Take a listen to a couple tracks. They will be releasing a full album later this spring. I can’t wait to hear it. Hopefully they will be back in Ottawa again before too long!
