I was recently introduced to the music of The Strain when they opened for The Junction at the LiVE Lounge earlier this year. They are an indie alternative band hailing from Wakefield, QC. They released their EP “Three Sheets to the Wind” at the end of March.
The album is an easy listen from start to finish. It is punctuated by catchy choruses, an uptempo beat, as well as some cool keyboard lines. The album was recorded by Bryan Ruckstuhl at Studio 169. He did a great job capturing their sound. You can find the whole EP posted on their myspace page. Give it a listen. I suggest you start with Ms. Vixen and E.A.R.L. Then check out The Situation to get a taste of their sound when they add a little funk to the mix.
If you’d like to see these guys live, make sure you check out their show in May as part of this year’s Big Money Shot competition.
