The LiVE 88.5 Big Money Shot is back for 2013!
Many, including myself, wondered if the Big Money Shot would be back now that Newcap’s 7 year commitment to fund developing Canadian Music talent was finished. This was part of the station’s license agreement with the CRTC.
Well, the competition has returned and LiVE 88.5 has shown that it is committed to developing Ottawa’s music scene.
The money might be a lot smaller than when the competition first began, only $10,000 to be shared among the top 3 bands. However I feel the real benefit to a lot of bands will come through the chance to get an inside look at the industry through various workshops, business plan development, and exposure to music fans in Ottawa. I myself have discovered a lot of great music through the competition, bands and artists I might not otherwise have heard of.
