Montreal’s, THE BOX, are back by popular demand, with a show at Ottawa’s, The Brass Monkey! Special guests, JEZEBEL, and Rock, Stock & Barrel.

Montreal-based band, The Box, formed in 1981 by singer/ keyboardist/songwriter, Jean-Marc Pisapia, would achieve its greatest commercial success between the mid 1980’s to the early 1990’s. Their refreshing new wave/pop/rock sound produced chart topping hits like “L’Affaire Dumoutier (Say To Me)”, “Closer Together”, and “Ordinary People”, which saturated the Canadian music airwaves on both radio and video networks. In 1985, they were awarded Quebec’s coveted Felix award for group of the year, and nominated for a Juno award for most promising group. The group suffered a partial breakup of its members in 1992, and by 2003, Pisapia found himself with a completely new line-up, who have since been exploring the realm of prog/neo-prog rock, and art rock, ever present in their latest effort, “D’Apres Le Horla De Maupassant” (2009). Throughout the music’s artistic evolution over the years, Pisapia’s distinctive, wonderfully smoky vocals remain the constant thread.

The Box offer a show that shares some of its newer musical exploration as well as churning out the fan favourites of the past. Come and experience the odyssey of one of the greatest, most uniquely artistic Canadian bands of our time!
