Potential Red

Spotlight on Marvest will introduce you to the talented music makers in Ottawa performing FREE! shows as part of the Marvest offshoot of CityFolk.

Potential Red

Saturday Sept 16, 2017 – 9:00 PM – Clocktower Brew Pub Glebe (575 Bank St)

What was your reaction to the news you’d be a part of Marvest and who was the first person you told?
David here from Potential Red, we were very excited to hear the news as we love being a part of such a cool event celebrating local music. We all told our close friends first as they are super supportive of the band.

Please describe your sound.
We are a Post-Punk/New Wave group taking inspiration from the likes of Joy Division, New Order, Jesus & Mary Chain, Talk Talk, etc and my obsession with the 80s borders on ridiculous sometimes (Good Rockin’ Tonite anyone?).

How did you get started on your musical journey?
I formed Potential Red after I lost someone close to me, and the music and songs were my coping mechanism.

What can music fans expect from your show? Will you be playing or releasing any new music?
Music fans interested in high energy post-punk, feedback, and dirty analog synths should definitely check out the show. We will be playing lots of stuff off our brand new debut record.

What artists are you hoping to catch during this year’s Cityfolk and Marvest?
Hoping to catch Shadowhand (Ottawa’s answer to ‘The War on Drugs’) for Marvest and check out Broken Social Scene and Matt Mays for City Folk.
