Fire Antlers

Spotlight on Marvest will introduce you to the talented music makers in Ottawa performing FREE! shows as part of the Marvest offshoot of CityFolk.

Fire Antlers

Friday Sept 15, 2017 – 11:00 PM – Arrow & Loon Pub (99 Fifth Ave)

What was your reaction to the news you’d be a part of Marvest and who was the first person you told?
We consulted our rhythm droid, KR-55, to make sure he’d be available for the gig. It turns out that he had an opening this Friday at 11pm, which made us all very happy, because who wants to perform without a rhythm droid?

Please describe your sound.
Fire Antlers melds twangy pop with primitive electronic beats and glittery synth waves.

How did you get started on your musical journey?
Fire Antlers started as a singer-songwriter/rhythm machine duo in Ottawa in 2014. Travis found it convenient to have a drummer that he could fit in a suitcase. Over time Fire Antlers has morphed into a four piece, which also sounds pretty cool.

What can music fans expect from your show? Will you be playing or releasing any new music?
Music fans should expect 3 humans and 1 machine operating at 100% grooviness. We are more than halfway done recording a full length album, and we really like these new songs, so we’ll be playing them for our audience in the hopes that they really like them as well.

What artists are you hoping to catch during this year’s Cityfolk and Marvest?
Rodriguez, Tanks and the Bangas, and Fred Penner. We’re also really psyched for all of the great Marvest performances, Ottawa is a freakishly talented city.
