Area Resident

Spotlight on Marvest will introduce you to the talented music makers in Ottawa performing FREE! shows as part of the Marvest offshoot of CityFolk.

Area Resident

Friday Sept 15, 2017 – 9:30 PM – Irene’s Pub (885 Bank St)

What was your reaction to the news you’d be a part of Marvest and who was the first person you told?
The first person I told was Kristy Nease — who plays bass when Area Resident performs live. The reason it was her, is we work together at the CBC and I was at work when I found out.

Please describe your sound.
The sound a multi instrumentist music lover makes when left to his limited devices, in a basement between split shifts but augmented by brilliant friends.

How did you get started on your musical journey?
I always paid attention to the band, not the singer. Studied the liner notes. I looked up to musicians and wanted to be one.

What can music fans expect from your show? Will you be playing or releasing any new music?
The second Area Resident album ‘Delano’ drops Nov. 10… but we’re doing four songs from it at Irene’s on Friday!

What artists are you hoping to catch during this year’s Cityfolk and Marvest?
Broken Social Scene, Chocolate Hot Pockets, Graven, Expanda Fuzz, Gentlemen Of the Woods, Rodriguez!
