It was a great feeling to get back to a packed house for live music here in Ottawa as we come out of the 2 year long pandemic. Even better, is when it happens to be one of my favorite bands – Said The Whale! It’s been a few years since I saw them last, as I was enjoying some sun down south.
With 7 albums under their belt, you can guarantee a few of your favourite songs won’t make the set list. However I was very happy to hear Honey Lungs, I love You, Okay and UnAmerican. They even threw in a little acoustic break in the middle of the show with Cold Night, Holly, Level Best. They finished it off the acoustic section with the start of 99 To The Moon, ending the song with the full band.
The crowd was loud and joined the band singing along for a few of the songs. All in all, it was a great show and you could tell the band was just as happy to be back on stage, as the crowd was to be there taking it all in.

Ottawa’s own Dad Sports kicked things off. This was my first time seeing the band. Being completely unfamiliar with them, it took a few songs to get into them. By the end of the set, I was bouncing along to their groove along with the rest of their fans that came out in support.
Thanks to Spectrasonic for bringing this show to Ottawa. Check out their website for all of the other shows on their calendar.
