My first stop on this evening was to catch Ottawa’s own Lucas Haneman Express. For those complaining about the lack of blues artists, this local act kept the early arrivals with a scorching set. The band was thrilled to be opening the City Stage for Dave Matthews!

I next caught The Suitcase Junket over on the Black Sheep Stage. This one man band had a great sound. I’m always amazed when someone can keep a beat, play guitar and sing at the same time.

Next up was the Spencer Lee Band back over on the City Stage who played to the building crowd.

Hailing from London, Oh Wonder brought their wonderful pop sounds to the Claridge Homes Stage. This was my introduction to their music, but apparently many Ottawans were already familiar with them, as the crowd packed the tent and overflowed outside. Many were content to listen and watch the duo on the outside screen.

The Dave Matthews Band was the headliner for the night on the City Stage. I last him him about 10 years ago in Toronto. It was great to finally see him again here in Ottawa. I have been enjoying his music for years and you always know you’re in for great show with many extended jams from Dave and his fantastic band.

I snuck away from Dave’s show for a bit to check out Courtney Barnett for a few songs. This talented Aussie had a large crowd of her own over at the Black Sheep Stage. The interesting lighting really added to her show. I have since started listening to her latest album – Tell Me How You Really Feel.
