Day 6 was the first heavy night of the festival with Alexisonfire headlining the main stage, supported by Sum 41 and Millencolin. There was a good sized crowd on hand for the evening of heavy riffs. Alexisonfire was touring in support of their first album – Otherness – in 13 years. The group last played Bluesfest in 2019, the last year the festival was held due to the pandemic.

This was my first time seeing Sum 41 in quite some time. The first time I saw them also happened to be at Bluesfest back in 2003. Their setlist pretty much focused on their big tunes from their first few albums, making it a bit of a walk down memory lane given that they released their first album back in 2000.

Once again there was an excellent trio of local artists on this evening. Also once again it was my first time seeing each of them perform Vicki Brittle played a fun set featuring her soulful sound paired with her scratchy vocal. Mischa, a local hip-hop artist put on an energetic set featuring some dancers and a few guest appearances. In contrast, Mia Kelly brought an intimate folky set, with her guitar and a few stories shared throughout the show.
