On Saturday, September 7th, 2019, the Ottawa Art Pep Rally will descend upon Queen St. Fare! It will be an evening filled with musical performances from Jumpin’ Joel Flash & The Magic Machine, The Monotypes, Beaugé, and Tev, as well as a special dance performance by Surraya Dawn!

It’s a jam packed evening of entertainment. In between each musical performance there will be some messages from community partners, as well as theatre sketches from The Ghost Lights, Coach Art, and Stage Manager Karen! Crowd-created art pieces will grow throughout the evening.

When I asked Joel how the Rally came together, he said “We love themes. Our last show was the EP Release Prom back in December, and we wanted to pick something with the same amount of nostalgia (ish) that also gives off the essence of PURE FUN!”

He added, “The Pep rally allows us to not only put on costumes and make a bunch of weird art, but it also gives us a chance to hype up the things that make this city more artistic! Multiple different genre’s and disciplines, visual art, and of course, community media and blogs that give a voice to those looking to get their art out to the world!”

On choosing Queen St. Fare as the venue, he added, “I LOVE THE SPACE! It’s huge and the stage is beautiful. I also like that there is something for everyone to enjoy.”

Joel summed up the evening stating, “Basically, art art art art art and more art!”

The doors are at 7pm and the show begins at 7:30. Tickets, available online or at the door, are only $10.
