On Saturday June 7th, 2014, the inaugural aVibe Music and Arts Festival will take place at Vincent Massey Park.

The festival combines 2 of my favourite things – music and craft beer. A unique sight at the festival promises to be the Vintage Volkswagen “Brew Bus Lounge” that will be offering up local craft beer on tap. The festival will also feature independent artisans and food vendors.

Dan Beardsley, BBL co-founder and co-organizer of the aVibe Music and Arts Festival, says, “When Volkswagen stopped producing VW Buses in 2013, many of us wanted to find ways to keep the vibe going. My buddy, and co-founder, Dan Hopkins and I were already salvaging VW Buses as a hobby and that led to the idea for a Brew Bus Lounge. We then leveraged more than 10 years of vendor experience at festivals around the world to launch aVibe, bringing together independent, local and artistic offerings to create a truly organic music and arts festival experience.”

On stage, you can expect a strong musical lineup with plenty of funk, reggae and roots influences, which will feature local favourites Tympanic and Les Mosquitoes, House of David Gang and Turn Style (both from Toronto), and headliner Slowcoaster (Sydney NS). Ottawa’s Zattar will be spinning funk and soul tunes in between.

Early bird tickets are now on sale for $35 and advance tickets will sell for $40. Children under 10 years of age enter free of charge and must be accompanied by an adult. The festival runs from 2pm until 11pm, with valet parking for bicycles on site.
