This past weekend, Fire and Neon celebrated the release of their new EP – Intentions. And what a night it was! Great sound, great crowd and fantastic performances!

First up was Zoo Legacy. I hadn’t had the chance to see them since they first started out, so it’s been a good year. I must say, they have really rounded out their sound. With the addition of a bassist and a drummer, they have really stepped up their live show. It was also the first chance I had to hear them perform live material from their latest effort City, Light, Glow. It’s not hard to see why they were nominated for and took home the “Best Urban” award from the Toronto Idependent Music Awards last year.

The Love Machine was up next. It was through the LiVE 88.5 Big Money Shot that I got to know and love seeing them live. I have seen them numerous times since and they have never disappointed. This night was no exception. They bring an intense energy to their live set. It’s always a treat. Definitely check these guys out when you get the chance! You won’t regret it.

The highlight of the evening was of course Fire and Neon. Performing tracks off their most recent release Intentions, the guys performed an impressive set. Featuring well known tracks as well as highlights from the new album, the band wasted no time in getting the crowd moving. They ended the night with a big percussion jam for which The Love Machine joined them on stage, everyone banging on whatever was handy. Then, after a lot of noise from the crowd, Fire and Neon came back on stage for one last song.

It was a fun night with a great lineup of local talent. Check out all of these bands if you haven’t yet. You won’t regret it!
