Last Friday, Zaphods was taken over by a trio of energetic indie rock bands which made for a fun night out.
The night was headlined by Ottawa’s own Eagleson who are back with a new singer and an grittier bite to their sound. It’s been a couple of years since I last saw them and they’re sounding better than ever. I look forward to hearing what they’ll unleash together after heading into the studio together over the coming months. Stay tuned…
Old James preceded them and were thoroughly enjoyable. It was my first time seeing them and I would catch another show anytime. They were probably the most energetic band of the evening, working the stage like a veteran touring act. I particularly enjoyed the guitarist’s playing and sound.
Starting things off were the also local Cast In Cadence. I haven’t managed to see them since their last performance in the now defunct yearly Big Money Shot competition. I always thought they could have placed better and it’s great to see they’re still plugging away at it.
Do yourself a favor and catch any of these bands the next time they hit the stage around town!
