Unfortunately rain set in for the late afternoon as the concerts started to get underway. That didn’t slow down local band Rebelle who brought their A game to the stage. The energy on display on stage made you forget about the light rain that was falling. I’ve been following the band for a few years now and can’t wait to hear what they have coming. For now, you can have a listen to their 3 song Hide EP.

Up next were Fast Romantics who were thankful to see the growing crowd despite the rain. Largely unfamiliar with their material, their performance persuaded me to head home and start digging into the band’s most recent album American Love. Hopefully it’s not too long before they return to town for another show.

After a short break, Hollerado took the stage. Thankfully the rain had pretty much ended by then. The crowd burst into party mode with Hollerado’s catchy songs egging them on. The large beach balls thrown into the crowd helped things along. It was great to hear one of my favorite songs still making their set since I last saw them – Grief Money. Part way through their show, they took a chance and brought of couple of people on stage help with the singing of the chorus for Fake Drugs, which provided a little extra entertainment for the crowd.

The final band on day 3 was Wintersleep. With the rain still holding off, the crowd had grown quite large by this point. This was another band that I was interested in seeing, as I wasn’t really familiar with them. The first 3 songs left an impression to say the least. I left the photo pit totally into their show.

Once again this year, the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival has managed to put together another stellar lineup! Give a listen to some of the bands they featured this year and I’m sure you’ll find something you’ll like.
