The start of Ottawa’s weekend, and the crowd started filling quickly when the gates opened at 5pm.

Everyone was anxious to get back out to a festival, and you can see the ones that were even more anxious if it was their first night of this festival.

The Command Sisters had the job of getting the crowd primed up and ready for the other two Canadian Juno Award winning bands that both formed in the same year of 1992, and that was Moist and Our Lady Peace.

Next on stage for the Ottawa fans was Moist with front man David Usher.

Opening the set with ‘Mechanical’, followed by Canadian chart hits ‘Silver’ and ‘Push’ that had the intro to ‘Sweet Dreams are Made of This’ for the ’90s crowd.

They had a great mix of new releases along with all the classic hits that the crowd showed the strong appreciation for.

Now it was time for the next headliner the crowd was eager to see out on stage, Our Lady Peace, the last time they played in Ottawa was at City Folk Festival just over 2 years ago, almost to the day, on September 13, 2019.

Opening their set with ‘The Message’, which was quickly followed up with the hits of ‘Supermans Dead’ and ‘One Man Army’. The crowd was into it the entire set, with singalongs to songs like ‘4AM’, as Raine Maida let them sing before telling the crowd “You guys are amazing” as he took back the lyrics.

Closing out the evening, and weekend with a 3 song Encore which had ‘”Angels/Losing/Sleep’, ‘4AM’ and the crowd favourite ‘Starseed’, made for an unforgettable evening at Lansdowne Park in Ottawa to close out City Folk Festival 2021, and leave the crowd wanting more for next weekends Bluesfest at the same location.
