Although they formed back in February of 2020, you could say The New Hires are a fairly new band in the Ottawa music scene. Coming together just as the covid-19 pandemic started to spread across the globe, they are looking to hit the stage this year to perform their first shows together and share their new songs with Ottawa music fans.
The New Hires are a five-piece indie rock band who describe their sound as a “combination of catchy hooks, energetic guitars, driving bass and drums”. Some of their many influences include The 1975, The Killers, The Strokes, Kings of Leon and Arctic Monkeys.
The group has released a few songs so far this year. You can check out videos for Save First & Foremost and Get Out below.
These tunes are a taste of what you can expect to hear on their upcoming EP and shows.
You’ve released a few new tunes…is there an album on the way?
We have our third song coming out in a couple months to close out the EP. Once that’s out, we’re planning on heading back to the studio and are considering a full length.
What else do you have in store for 2022?
We are looking forward to finally being able to play live after 2 years of waiting. We have a few shows in the works that will be announced soon. We plan on releasing more music videos to go with the other songs from our EP like the one we released for Save First & Foremost filmed by the talented Jeremy Hardy. We’re currently hosting an Air guitar solo challenge to give back to the community. And finally, we look forward to continuing to put out more music!
Where were the songs recorded?
We recorded the 3 songs from this EP at Pebble Studios with the amazing Cory Bergeron behind the console and Taylor James Harris doing a phenomenal job filling in for Christian on drums. The mixing and mastering was done by Cory.
The New Hires have already started announcing some upcoming shows. Follow their social media channels to find out more.
