Céline Dion performed to a full house in Ottawa’s Canadian Tire Centre on October 15, 2019.
After performing in Las Vegas for the past decade, Céline was welcomed back to Canada by a sold out crowd in Ottawa, Ontario. Opening with a hydraulic lift from center stage wearing a red sequined dress and patent leather ruby red shoes. She clicked her heels to find her way back home to the tune of “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now”!

The setlist comprised of old favourites and new songs, both in English and in French. The 2nd song (French) got the crowd up on their feet, followed by “Flying on my own”. Dion stated that it was one of her favourite songs. She spoke about postponing previous shows due to a throat virus. “I really hate to disappoint people” she said. Dion spoke of having a partner who used to orchestrate her performances, pointing to the sky, and saying that she does this now, at which time she broke into song: “Je vous dit Merci”. She struggled through vocals and appealed to the crowd’s empathy, which she received in droves!

The crowd sang some lyrics for her and cheered… rather ROARED when she hit the high marks. Among some of the songs that followed were “I’m Alive”, “The power of love” (… and the crowd went wild!), “Beauty and the Beast”, The Voice (total audience engagement!), “Because You Loved Me”, and an all-time favourite French song, “Ziggy”. She entertained with a disco performance backed by a fantastic band, laser show and video background.
She paid tribute to stars such as Prince, Freddy Mercury, Tina Turner (“River Deep, Mountain High”), and belted out “Lady Marmalade” – à-la-Vegas!! And a little “twerking” to boot!
Eye candy galore, the audience was spoiled with great fashion video clips of Dion herself while waiting for her during brief intermissions.

The encore performance, “My Heart Will Go On” was opened by a video of Dion performing underwater ballet. She was gracious and thankful to her Canadian fans, stating: “It was hard, but you know what? It was hard to perform the way I want to perform but I will never forget our night tonight.”
Neither will her fans…
