Q&A

What was your reaction to the news you’d be a part of Bluesfest and who was the first person you told?
I was over the moon! Bluesfest is the first festival I ever played, so It’s really exciting to be back this year, with such an awesome lineup. I called up my mom right away!

Please describe your sound.
Blending folk music with strong influences of blues, pop and Americana, Mia’s tunes are anchored by her powerful voice that emanates with raw emotion.

How did you get started on your musical journey?
I first fell in love with the stage when I started musical theatre at age 7. Since then, my love and need for music have only grown, as I learned various instruments and covers, began playing shows and eventually songwriting.

What can music fans expect from your show? Will you be playing any new music at Bluesfest and/or releasing new music ahead of your performance?
Performing solo, I will be playing songs off my first record in both English and in French, which will be released later in the summer. With soulful grit and earnest sweetness, the debut album, Garden Through The War, explores the resilience and growth that follow hardships. Audiences can expect storytelling, foot-stomping, sing-alongs, and heartfelt songwriting.

What artists are you hoping to catch during this year’s Bluesfest?
I’m definitely stoked to see Tash Sultana, Jack Johnson, Nathaniel Rateliff & The night sweats, Ocean Alley, Alanis Morrissette, Okies, and a ton of other local music!
