Q&A

What was your reaction to the news you’d be a part of Bluesfest and who was the first person you told?
I of course had a positive reaction to being included in the lineup to Bluesfest. It is such a well run festival and I have had so many great experiences playing there and am very much looking forward to playing there again.
The first person I told was my producer Ken Friesen.

Please describe your sound.
My vocal sound can be described as soulful and from the heart. I definitely wear my influences on my sleeve – Bobby Womack, Wilson Pickett, Solomon Burke are all artists I borrow from and try to emulate.

How did you get started on your musical journey?
By listening to my fathers extensive record collection and then cutting my teeth performing live with my brother playing every dive bar from PEI to Vancouver Island.

What can music fans expect from your show? Will you be playing any new music at Bluesfest and/or releasing new music ahead of your performance?
I am bringing an excellent band to this years festival with a three piece horn section! I have a number of unreleased projects that I will be playing selections from and new music is coming out very soon.

What artists are you hoping to catch during this year’s Bluesfest?
Femi Kuti, Run The Jewels, Anders Drerup, Anthony Geraci, Mack&Ben, Sue Foley
