There was a large crowd on hand for the first night of this year’s shortened Ottawa Bluesfest. On and off rain through the early part of the evening eventually turned into a steady downpour by the time Half Moon Run hit the stage, drenching the crowd. That didn’t dampen spirits however, as the majority of the crowd stuck it out until the end despite the weather, to take in another great performance from the night’s headliner.

This was the first time I caught Tokyo Police Club on the big stage. The first time I saw them was in a small Ottawa club quite some time ago. The band played an entertaining set.

Aysanabee started the evening off with a fun set of songs and stories things off. It was great to catch a new artist on the large stage ahead of the bands I was already a fan of.
