On Thursday May 8th 2014, head out to the Mercury Lounge to spend the night with Blak Denim as they celebrate the release of their new EP – Vanguard(en). The show is presented by Beau’s All Natural Brewing Co. and the Mercury Lounge.
BlakDenim is a vanguard 9 piece hip-hop act that brings together clever lyricism and smooth vocal harmonies with a banging rhythm section and funkified horns. They infuse hip-hop, funk, rock, soul, and jazz with lyrical content that ranges from the serious to the absurd, their tone from sweet to heavy, all connected by head-nodding melodies.
I first got to know the band through last year’s LiVE 88.5 Big Money Shot, where they took 2nd place.
The band will be joined by Missing LinX, Canada’s first and only official Hip Hop Poetry Group.
Tickets are only $15, which includes a copy of the new EP. The doors open at 8pm and you can expect the show to get underway around 9pm.
