Big Money Shot final 15 – Round 3 performances – Night 1

Night 1 was a great start to the LiVE 88.5 Big Money Shot Round 3 performances. The crowd was slow to build, but Ritual was hopping by the end of the night.

Erin Saoirse Adair got things started off with her folk stylings, switching frequently between her guitar and ukulele. Take a listen if you haven’t heard her before. She pens some great lyrics.

Become the Sun was up next. Fresh off a tour of western Canada, and featuring songs off of their latest EP Water, the guys delivered a rocking set with the energy they’ve become known for.

The Strain have grown by leaps and bounds over the last 2 years, having released a couple of EP’s during that time. Their set continues to get better every time I see them. They were thrilled to even get a nod from Alan Cross earlier this year.

Apocalypstic brought their infectious pop to the stage to the delight of their fans, who didn’t hold back in letting the judges know who they were there for. The all girl quintet had people dancing and singing along from the moment they started.

Les Mosquitos ended off the evening. Their reggae and ska blend had Ritual bouncing throughout their entire set. I had never seen them before, but they found a new fan with this one performance.

It seems the judges enjoyed themselves as well. 4 of the 5 acts made it into this year’s top 6.
