With the great weather this weekend, I decided to head out to the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival with the family in tow and take in a few performances.
While the boys enjoyed the bouncy castles in the children’s area, I took in Amos the Transparent‘s show. It’s been quite some time since I’ve seen them take the stage, so it was a treat to get to hear some of my favs like Sure as the Weather, along with a taste of their upcoming album with the song This Cold Escape. The band was in fine form. Check out what else they have going on this summer in our recent interview.
After finding the family and grabbing some food, we sat down on the hill just in time for Wildlife to take the stage. I’ve heard good things about them, but hadn’t managed to catch a show yet, so I was excited to finally get the chance. They didn’t disappoint. With a rocking set and energy to spare, they took command of the stage and quickly got the crowd into it. They even managed to talk a few eager spectators into an entertaining rolling competition down the big hill beside the stage.
If you haven’t been to this festival yet, make sure to put it on your calendar for next summer. Even if you’re not into the boat races, there is plenty of free entertainment for the whole family all weekend long!
